Newcastle Community Heritage Project

Adult Education

A guide to adult education in the Newcastle upon Tyne area

PUBLICATIONS

A major contribution of our Project was the publication of a wide variety of guides and learning resources, for both adults and children.  In 1999, our `Ouseburn Heritage' publications of oral histories and archive images helped us secure an Intrerpret Britain Award, and in 2010 our `Ouseburn Explorer' book of walks for children received the Runner-up Award in the Education category of the Waterways Renaisance Awards hosted by the British Urban Regeneration Awards programme.

All our publications have been researched and developed by people living and working in Newcastle.  Over sixty community groups participated in our Project during 2005-2010, and for many of the people involved it was their first opportunity to see their work in print.

Availability

Many of our publications are still available at City Library, Fenham Library, Benwell Library, Ouseburn Farm, Ouseburn Trust (Lime Street), East Area Regeneration Centre (Ouseburn), the Search Project (Adelaide Terrace, Benwell), and St James' Church Benwell.  Small quantities may also be available at the various venues featured on the Project Maps - simply click on the MAPS tab, above.

As existing stocks reduce, the availability of publications at these venues will inevitabley decrease.  We have therefore placed many of these publications in pdf format throughout this website, for you to download your own printed version.
